The best apps for buying sneakers and streetwear

A guide for hype hunters.

Living the hypebeast life isn’t easy. Not only because buying high-end sneakers and streetwear can quickly become an expensive habit, but it’s also hard to keep up with the weekly drops from Nike, Supreme and other brands. Thankfully, there are a myriad of apps that can help with your shopping obsession. SNKRS, StockX and The Real Real are all staples in the space, but they aren’t the only ones designed to serve your hyped lifestyle.

If you’re always on the hunt for that limited pair of Air Jordans or Yeezys, or a coveted piece from Gucci or Supreme, these are some of the apps you should be using:

DEPOP

Like with Bump, you can buy or sell sneakers, streetwear and just about any hyped or vintage item on Depop. But what makes Depop stand out is its user interface, which clearly takes a design cue from Instagram. You can like people’s posts, there are hashtags to make it easier to find the products or brands you’re looking for, and over time the app learns your style and shows you recommendations based on that. It’s no surprise Depop has over 15 million users. (iOS, Android)

DROPLIST

There’s no buying or selling on Droplist. Instead, the app gives you a schedule of upcoming sneaker and streetwear releases from major brands, including Nike, Adidas, Supreme, Palace, Bape, Dior and more. Additionally, Droplist will show you a list of retailers where you can buy the sneakers or apparel you’re looking for, which will help you be ready come launch time. (iOS, Android)

GOAT

As popular as StockX is, GOAT is just the better app for people who don’t mind paying resale prices on sneakers and streetwear. It has a sleeker design, cheaper prices, and perhaps most importantly, it didn’t lie about getting hacked. One of GOAT’s best features is Instant Ship, which sends items your way immediately after placing an order, rather than making you wait the normal 1-2 weeks it takes due to the authentication process. You do have to pay extra for Instant Ship, but it’s worth it if you want to buy sneakers or apparel that has already been verified and can be at your doorstep within a few days. (iOS, Android)

GRAILED

The best thing about Grailed is its robust catalogue, which offers curated, peer-to-peer menswear from basically every high-end brand imaginable. Yes, you can buy and sell a ton of Supreme, but on Grailed you can also shop for new and lightly used Gucci, Raf Simons, Rick Owens and Saint Laurent. If you spend enough time browsing the app, you can find great pieces at affordable prices. (iOS, Android)

J23

For Nike and Air Jordan die-hards, the J23 app is a must. The app, which costs $1.99, has one main purpose: to send push notifications to your smartphone anytime a Nike or Jordan sneaker drops unexpectedly, either on SNKRS or another app. Aside from that feature, J23 has a release schedule of upcoming Air Jordans, plus a detailed history of all 34 flagship Jumpman models. The reason you’re paying for it, though, is simply to be alerted as soon as a hyped sneaker is up for purchase — and in the sneaker game, every second counts. (iOS, Android)

RSVP KINGZ

Not many people are savvy enough to build their own bot, aka a computer script that can make purchases online in a matter of seconds. If that includes you, your best bet to get highly anticipated, limited-edition sneakers and streetwear is a service like RSVP Kingz. For a fee, which ranges from $25 to hundreds of dollars depending on what you want, the app scans sites including Nike, Yeezy Supply, Supreme, Foot Locker, FinishLine and makes a purchase for you. And if it isn’t successful, you get your money back. (iOS, Android)

SUPLEXED

If there’s one downside to the sheer number of resale market apps, it’s that prices can fluctuate daily between them. But that’s why Suplexed exists. The app shows you prices for specific sneakers on StockX, GOAT, Flight Club and Stadium Goods, all in a single view so you can easily find the cheapest pair available. It’s a simple idea, but one that’s quite useful for hypebeasts. (iOS, Android)
