Switch Online Genesis games: 9 must-have future titles

Nintendo

Nintendo

14 Sega Genesis games were added to Nintendo Switch Online as part of the Expansion Pack, but some major titles are missing.

Dozens of titles are reportedly on the way, but these are the 9 we want to see.

9. Crusader of Centy

This obscure cult classic Zelda clone has yet to get the love it deserves. A re-release on Nintendo Switch could do just that, though having a main character named Corona is a little awkward.

Sega
8. Mortal Kombat

The Genesis version of this game included a code that would add blood. That slice of gaming history should be represented on Nintendo Switch Online.

Midway
7. Mega Man: The Wily Wars

The first three Mega Man games were remade for Sega Genesis but were only available via an online service called Sega Channel. We’d love to see this collection immortalized on Nintendo Switch Online.

Capcom
6. Vectorman

This run-and-gun platformer used pre-rendered graphics to deliver a fantastic-looking Sega Genesis title. Sega’s answer to Donkey Kong Country deserves a spot in the system’s Nintendo Switch Online lineup.

Sega
5. Altered Beast

Players fight enemies as a werewolf in this sidescrolling beat ‘em up. As an iconic Sega Genesis pack-in game, it’s shocking that Altered Beast isn’t already on Nintendo Switch Online.

Sega
4. Comix Zone

This comic-inspired action game literally sees players hopping from panel to panel, crafting their own adventure along the way. It’s very ‘90s but still is extremely novel to play in 2021.

Sega
3. Shadowrun

This tabletop-turned-video game is one of the most ambitious RPGs on Genesis, and it’s better than the SNES version. Adding this would be a great way to follow up the inclusion of games like Phantasy Star IV.

Sega
2. Shining Force 2

The first Shining Force is already on Nintendo Switch Online, but its sequel is even better. It’s likely only a matter of time until more of this series makes its way to Nintendo Switch Online.

Sega
1. Sonic the Hedgehog

Sega’s most iconic game of all time somehow isn’t on the service. While its addition might undermine the release of Sonic Origins, this feels like a no-brainer.
