Pretty much every good actor these days has appeared in at least one superhero movie

So stumbling across an old movie starring your favorite superhero isn’t that rare. But three superhero actors? That’s still special.

Z is for Zacharia is one of those movies. It’s also a tight post-apocalyptic drama starring Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Chris Pine (Wonder Woman), and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange).

Loosely based on the 1974 novel by Robert C. O’Brien, Z is for Zachariah takes place in a valley that’s miraculously been spared from a nuclear apocalypse that devastated the planet.

A young Ann Burden (Robbie) lives alone on her family’s farm. Then John Loomis (Chiwetel) shows up.

Loomis is a scientist who uses his knowledge to make improvements on the farm (some of which require tearing down Ann’s father’s old church for wood).

Everything is going great. Then, Caleb (Pine) shows up.

Caleb is religious, instantly creating tension between the two men while a love triangle of sorts starts to form.

Z is for Zachariah is a slow burn of a movie. Don’t expect a blockbuster finale. But it’s a pleasure just watching these three familiar actors do something a little different in this bizarre post-apocalyptic paradise. Watch it for free on Peacock now.
