17 Marvel movies you need to watch before Spider-Man: No Way Home

And the best order to watch them in.

While we wait for Spider-Man’s return, one Marvel fan on Reddit offered up the defacto viewing order to catch up for this multiversal superhero epic. Let’s dive in!

17. Spider-Man (2002)

Let’s start at the beginning with the Sam Raimi trilogy.

16. Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Doc Ock is coming to the MCU. See his origin story here.

15. Spider-Man 3 (2007)

The last Raimi movie is a dud, but if Toby Maguire is coming back you should refresh yourself on where he left things off.

14. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)

Catch-up on Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker before his alleged return in No Way Home.

13. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

Remember Electro? Revisit Jamie Foxx’s supervillain role before he returns in No Way Home.

12. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

The first appearance of Tom Holland as the MCU’s Spidey!

11. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Holland’s first solo Marvel movie still holds up.

10. Doctor Strange (2016)

Stephen Strange plays a big role in No Way Home. Revisit his big intro ahead of time.

9. Thor: Ragnarok (2017)

Strange gets a brief (but memorable) cameo in this movie.

8. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

Spider-Man plays a huge role in the first half of the fight against Thanos.

7. Avengers: Endgame (2018)

Spidey shows up at the end of Endgame but plays a major role in the final battle.

6. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)

Most important of all, revisit Spider-Man’s most recent adventure and his conflict with Mysterio (who may or may not return in No Way Home)

5. Loki (2021)

This one is optional, but it may explain the multiverse shenanigans happening in No Way Home.

4. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Basically the animated version of No Way Home (we think), this is also just a fantastic movie.

3. Venom (2018)

Eddie Brock is expected to show up in No Way Home. Also, this movie is hilarious.

2. Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)

Watch it for the post-credits if nothing else.

1. Shang-Chi (2021)

This one is a bit of a stretch, but Wong shows up in Shang-Chi briefly and probably has a similarly long cameo in No Way Home.
