5 bizarre characters that make 'Rick and Morty' the best sci-fi on TV

Adult Swim

Rick and Morty is one of the wackiest, funniest, and most colorful science fiction shows on television today. The show might focus on Rick, Morty, and the rest of the charming Smith family, but we've come to love the many unforgettable, weird aliens and other side characters we've encountered over the years

Here are 5 of Rick and Morty's weirdest and most memorable characters.

Shrimply Pibbles

Who is he?

Werner Herzog’s Shrimply Pibbles is the galaxy’s most influential and unintentionally hilarious civil rights leader who, in Season 2’s “Interdimensional Cable 2: Tempting Fate,” needs Jerry’s penis so doctors can build him a new heart.

Three adjectives to describe him:

Magnanimous, calm, shrimply

Best Quote:

“I've dwelt among the humans. Their entire culture is built around their penises. It's funny to say they are small. It's funny to say they are big. I've been at parties where humans held bottles, pencils, thermoses in front of themselves and called out, 'Hey, look at me. I'm Mr. So-and-So Dick. I've got such-as-such for a penis.' I never saw it fail to get a laugh.”

Squanchy

Who is he?

Squanchy is an anthropomorphic cat alien who’s longtime friends with Rick. He appears in the Season 1 and 2 finales to share his love for alcohol, auto-erotic asphixiation, and replacing random words with the “squanch.”

Three adjectives to describe him:

fun-loving, squanchy, loyal

Best Quote:

"Squanchy language is more contextual than literal. You just say what's in your squanch, and people understand you."

Krombopulos Michea

Who is he?

Krombopulos Michael is a lovable, happy-go-lucky Gromflomite assassin who occasionally buys custom weapons from Rick. He encounters Morty and Rick in “Mortynight Run” when he purchases an anti-matter gun to kill an interdimensional gaseous being. Unfortunately, he dies in the main universe, but other versions exist across the multiverse.

Three adjectives to describe him:

deadly, cheery, agile

Best Quote:

"I have no code of ethics, I will kill anyone, anywhere! Children, animals, old people, doesn't matter. I just love killin'!"

Mr. Meeseeks

Who is he?

Who are they! The Meeseeks Box is a gadget that creates a friendly Mr. Meeseeks with each press of the button. Powder-blue humanoids with large mouths and tufts of red-orange hair, each Mr. Meeseeks exists for the sole purpose of accomplishing a task assigned to it with a lot of enthusiasm. Once they complete it, they cease to exist. They first appeared in Season 1’s “Meeseeks and Destroy" and aside from a brief cameo in Season 2, returned for a few scenes in the Season 4 premiere.

Three adjectives to describe him:

helpful, happy, tormented

Best Quote:

"Meeseeks are not born into this world fumbling for meaning, Jerry! We are created to serve a singular purpose for which we will go to any lengths to fulfill! Existence is pain to a Meeseeks, Jerry. And we will do anything to alleviate that pain."

Mr. Poopybutthole

Who is he?

This shrill alien is a long-time family friend of the Smiths, and he's arguably one of the most important characters in Rick and Morty. He debuted in Season 2's "Total Rickall" and has since appeared in every season's post-credits sequence. Rick recruited him into his random crew in Season 4's "One Crew Over The Crewcoo's Morty" in a spectacular fight sequence in a college classroom.

Three adjectives to describe him:

upbeat, sensitive, zany

Best Quote:

"Ooowee...That's exactly the kind of connection I'd have loved to explore in my class. Too bad I lost my job for putting my students in the hospital."

Krombopulos Michael

Who is he?

Krombopulos Michael is a lovable, happy-go-lucky Gromflomite assassin who occasionally buys custom weapons from Rick. He encounters Morty and Rick in “Mortynight Run” when he purchases an anti-matter gun to kill an interdimensional gaseous being.
