Volvo's Android-powered EV is real

The all-electric Polestar Precept could be the car of your eco-friendly dreams.

Meet the Polestar Precept. It's an all-electric vehicle that uses sustainable materials almost throughout and that's designed to offer a radical vision for the future of cars.

The car comes from Polestar, a brand jointly owned by Volvo and Zhejiang Geely Holdings. Originally unveiled in April — it missed a March appearance at the Geneva Motor Show due to Covid-19 — the concept car was expected to remain a prototype forever. That all changed on September 26, when Polestar announced the Precept would, in fact, enter full production.

And it looks amazing...

The April demonstration showed a lot about what to expect from the final model – like the interior, with "3D Knit" surfaces made from 100 percent recycled polyester.

There's also a 15-inch Google-powered touchscreen in the center console, paired with an instrument cluster to the side. The system builds on the existing Android-based setup in the Polestar 2, offering a more helpful Google Assistant and more car-tuned features.

There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to the Precept at this stage, like price, detailed specs, and release date. What is known is that the company will produce the car at a new production facility in China.

But with impressive style like this, the Precept could be an EV to watch out for in the future... especially if your name is Elon Musk.
