Lego is releasing a 'Seinfeld' set of Jerry's apartment at last

And yes, it seems to prove the hallway is geometrically impossible.

Seinfeld went off the air in 1998, but the show remains a fixture of pop culture.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Lego has announced that it will release a kit based on Jerry’s apartment. The set comes in at 1,326-pieces and will be available starting August 1. Lego VIP members will get access to the kit earlier, on July 21. Retail price is $79.99.

The set comes from the mind of Lego enthusiast Brett Waller, who submitted his design through Lego Ideas, the company’s website for crowdsourced set suggestions.

Lego Ideas requires users to submit their ideas and meet a threshold of backing from supporters, after which the company itself will review the set and determine whether it’s viable for mass production. Waller’s kit made the cut.

One point of intrigue we couldn’t help but notice is the hallway...

Lego

Fans of Seinfeld have long argued over whether or not the hallway out of Jerry’s apartment is a geometric impossibility. The hallway is slanted at an angle and features doorways on both sides. But if that’s the case, then the angle of the entrance to Jerry’s apartment means the other apartments in the hallway would run directly into his kitchen.

The kit seems to settle the case, as the hallway is straight and features no other doorways on the outside of Jerry’s apartment.

“Could Jerry Seinfeld’s hallway exist? In reality, probably not. The angle of the door entering Seinfeld’s apartment and the location of his kitchen don’t appear to match with most shots from the hallway.”

Regardless, the kit features lots of other detail that adds to its authenticity, like a cupboard full of items, Jerry’s living room sofa, and other furniture pieces.

If you’re someone who non-ironically enjoys Seinfeld, this kit could be a fun way to relax and spend time with friends.
