A sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the critically acclaimed launch title for Nintendo Switch, was Nintendo's show-stopper at E3 2019.

Unfortunately, Nintendo has not revealed anything substantial about the game since then outside of a brief mention during Age of Calamity's reveal.

4. Metroid Prime 4

Last major announcement:

January 25, 2019

This long-requested sequel was confirmed just months after the Nintendo Switch's launch during E3 2017. But Nintendo's messaging around the game went scarily silent after that.

Sadly, the game ran into development problems and Nintendo decided to reboot the project in 2019, delaying the game indefinitely. When could we hear more?

3. Bayonetta 3

While PlatinumGames developers have affirmed that the game is still in active development since then, Nintendo has not shared anything else about Bayonetta 3 since 2017. Time for an update?

Hot off the heels of the successful Detective Pikachu movie, The Pokémon Company confirmed a sequel to the game it was based on is in the works for Switch.

We have not heard anything else about Detective Pikachu 2 since then, but will hopefully learn more in 2021 as part of the series' 25th-anniversary celebration.

Nintendo / The Pokemon Company

The next mainline Pokémon game has not been revealed yet, but a new major title is expected to be released in 2021 to celebrate the series' 25th-anniversary.

Multiple leaks and insiders claim the new games are remakes of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. We will likely learn about this new game in February during the 25th-anniversary celebration.
