The Drone Racing League, or DRL, held its first season in 2016 with five races, and has grown since, with races being broadcast on ESPN and ESPN 2 in the United States and on Sky Sports and other networks globally. It’s “the sport of the future,” says league CEO and founder Nicholas Horbaczewski, who announced the DRL raised $20 million in Series B funding in June 2017. “We’ve committed to building a technology company that can capture the imagination of new sports fans around the world,” Horbaczewski says.
