Withings is back with a new hybrid smartwatch called the ScanWatch Horizon. It’s designed to resemble a classic dive watch like a Rolex Submariner with its prominent bezel for measuring time spent underwater.

€499

That's around $580.

For the money, you’re getting premium watch materials like a titanium finish, stainless steel rotating bezel with Luminova hands and markings, and a sapphire glass case with anti-reflection coating.

The ScanWatch Horizon is launching in France, Germany, and the UK today. Withings says it’ll arrive in the U.S. in Q4 2021 after FDA clearance.

Touted as the “most medically advanced piece of jewelry ever envisaged,” the ScanWatch Horizon is packed with numerous sensors including a heart sensor that can monitor irregular heart rhythms and take an ECG. It also supports sleep tracking, breathing disturbance detection to detect sleep apnea, and monitors blood oxygen levels.

And of course, it can track your activity and fitness. It’s can automatically track over 30 types of activities.

30-day battery life

Hybrid smartwatches last way longer than regular smartwatches because they don’t have a full-blown LCD or OLED display and apps sucking down power all day long.

The 43mm ScanWatch Horizon is available in green or blue and comes with two bands (stainless steel and FKM rubber).

The Withings ScanWatch Horizon is definitely attractive. Given Withings’ track record producing solid hybrid smartwatches with health and fitness monitoring features, it should perform well, too. No idea why you’d want to take an ECG underwater, but Withings says you can if you want to.
