Samsung’s 15-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptop weighs only 3 pounds

The laptop is one of four Galaxy Book Pro thin-and-light laptops that Samsung’s touting as the “most powerful Galaxy devices” ever. Sayonara M1 MacBook Air?

This is what I’m talking about. When someone like Apple sets the laptop bar really high with the M1 MacBook Air, everyone else steps their game up. Case in point: Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 and now Samsung’s Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360.

Samsung touts the new Galaxy Book Pro and Book Pro 360 are the “most powerful Galaxy” devices ever created.

The Galaxy Book (15.6-inch here) is a standard clamshell.
The Galaxy Book Pro 360 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop.

Each available in 13.3 and 15.6-inch display sizes, the new Windows 10 laptops are only physical lightweights (the 15.6-inch Pro 360 is 3 pounds and the 13.3-inch Book is 1.91 pounds). Inside, they mean power.

The Galaxy Book Pros and Pro 360 laptops are packing 11th-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 chips and Intel’s much more powerful Iris Xe integrated graphics. While high-fidelity gaming is out of the question, Iris Xe graphics should be enough to play Fortnite on high settings.

Galaxy Book Pro Specs:

• Up to 8GB of RAM (16GB on the 15.6”)

• Up to 512GB NVMe SSD

• 720p HD webcam

• Wi-Fi 6E

• 65W USB-C fast charger included

• Fingerprint reader

• 1x Thunderbolt 4, 1x USB-C, 1x USB-A 3.2

• microSD card slot

• HDMI (on 15.6”)

• Mystic Blue or Mystic Silver

Galaxy Book Pro 360 Specs:

• Up to 16GB of RAM

• Up to 512GB NVMe SSD (up to 1TB on 15.6”)

• 720p HD webcam

• Wi-Fi 6E (5G optional on 13.3”)

• 65W USB-C fast charger included

• Fingerprint reader

• 1x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB-C

• microSD card slot

• Mystic Navy or Mystic Bronze

S Pen support

Both Galaxy Book Pro 360 laptops come with a non-Bluetooth S Pen. Samsung says it’s made the S Pen 2.5x thicker for better grip comfort.

720p

All four models have 720p webcams, which is not good.

Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 15 inch is the only version with an HDMI port

If you need an HDMI port, the 15.6-inch Galaxy Book Pro is the only one with it. Otherwise, you can output video via USB-C or Thunderbolt.

5G

The 13.3-inch Galaxy Book Pro 360 can be configured with optional 5G.

Also worth noting: The Galaxy Book Pros come with AMOLED displays and the Books Pro 360 with Super AMOLEDs. Slight difference. All four laptops have FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, which is... okay, but incomparable to the MacBook Air/MacBook Pro’s Retina displays.

2020 made it clear everyone should have a reliable and powerful computer for work, school, or play. Preorders start today with Galaxy Book Pro pricing starting at $999 for the 13.3-inch and $1,099 for the 15.6-inch. The Galaxy Book Pro 360 starts at $1,199 for the 13.3-inch and $1,299 for the 15.6-inch.

On paper, the specs look good for these super thin-and-light laptops. How good the keyboard and track pad are and whether battery life and performance stack up against the Surface Laptop 4 and M1 MacBook Air in real life is a different story.
