Huge leak shows off Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3
The new leaks reveal internal and external display sizes for both phones, as well as new renders as the rumored launch date approaches.
Samsung has a leak problem... but that’s good news for us! While everything that’s been leaked so far will be announced at the Unpacked event on August 11, there isn’t a lot we don’t know.
Everything from the new Galaxy watch to the new Galaxy earbuds to the much-anticipated new foldables has been revealed at this point.
Flavor of the week
This week’s juicy leak comes from various sources, with Evan Blass, a well-known leaker with a credible history, tweeting out information regarding the new foldable phones: the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3.
IPX8
Both foldables will have a water resistance rating of IPX8, meaning they should survive shallow, short swims.
Below the fold
While we’ve previously seen renders of both phones, exact specs have eluded us. But now we know the internal and external display sizes for both thanks to Blass’ leak.
The Z Flip3 will have a 6.7-inch display and a 1.9-inch cover display — the latter is larger than the original Flip’s 1.1-inch external display. The Z Fold 3, on the other hand, will have a 7.6-inch internal display and a 6.2-inch external display, which is virtually the same as the previous model.
Some light has been shed on the cameras, too, with one of the Z Flip 3’s two rear cameras are rumored to be 12-megapixel cameras. A 10-megapixel selfie camera has also been reported. The Z Fold 3, not to be outdone, will carry a 12-megapixel camera in its triple-camera setup, with a 4-megapixel main selfie camera.
Arriving in Style-us
The leak points to two S-Pens being optional for the Z Fold 3: the S-Pen Pro and a new S-Pen Fold, which was specifically design for foldable phones and confirmed by a Samsung blog post. The existence of the S-Pen Fold is further corroborated by a 91Mobiles leak, in which renders of a case show a dedicated slot for an S-Pen (seen below).
While other rumors are less certain, it seems likely both phones will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, with the Flip 3 having 8GB of RAM and the Fold 3 getting 12GB The Flip 3 has been speculated to launch with storage options of 128GB or 256GB, while the Fold 3 may have a beefier 512GB internal storage capacity.
