After months of rumors, images of the much-anticipated Samsung watch have leaked, confirming earlier renders a week ahead of the official reveal.
For Samsung, August 11 can’t come soon enough. Every day, a new leak undercuts the South Korean manufacturer’s product announcements planned for its Unpacked event next week.
Recent leaks have revealed the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2, the new line of Samsung foldables, and the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Just last month, a huge leak from Amazon Canada spilled the beans on price and the different models, nailing down exact hardware specs as well.
After a steady stream of leaked images and renders over the past few months, we’ve now seen the watch in the wild thanks to an anonymous leaker who provided the images to 91Mobiles.
The hands-on images only show off the classic model of the Galaxy Watch 4, which comes with a bezel. Sadly, there’s no detailed look at the new UI, with the images only displaying the initial setup screen.
Other reports from WinFuture and Twitter leaker @_snoopytech_ confirm the previous announcement At Google’s IO conference that it was merging its wearables Wear OS with Samsung’s Tizen OS. The new watches will run on Google’s Wear OS 3, with Samsung’s One UI Watch 3.5 running on top of the operating system.
While the images don’t show the UI in action, SamMobile leaked a marketing video that does. The video focuses on standard fitness features such as step counting, heart rate monitoring, and sleep tracking.
Previously, it was rumored that watch would have a Bio-electrical Impedance Analysis sensor, which has now been confirmed in the video as noted by Android Authority. The sensor measures body composition, calculating a person’s percentage of fat and muscle.
With all the leaks, Samsung has managed to keep the price of the watches close to its chest. Based on previous Samsung watches, prices could be in the $400 range, though it will vary depending on the model.
