Huge leak shows off Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
Specs and renders of Samsung's Galaxy S22 have leaked and it looks like it might have a lot in common with a Galaxy Note.
After a year of back-to-back hardware releases, such as the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z foldables, Samsung might be injecting the best of a Galaxy Note into its next flagship Android phone series, the Galaxy S22.
Passing the torch
Leaks report that the Galaxy S22, which is purportedly coming in three different models, will support Samsung’s S Pen. It’s not clear if all models will include stylus support, but the leak speculates at least one model might have a built-in S Pen. In this video, you can see an S Pen slot in this fan-rendered “S22 Ultra.”

Per the leaks, the S22’s main wide lens might get a new sensor, bumping the resolution from 12 to 50 megapixels. The ultrawide camera will reportedly stick to 12 megapixels. A telephoto might sport 10 megapixels with a 3x optical zoom. As for the selfie: The leaks point to a 10-megapixel hole phone camera. Leaks from OnLeaks and Digit.in show renders depicting an “S22 Ultra” with a P-shaped camera bump and four cameras.
LET THE CHIPS FALL
Leaks suggest that the S22 will use different chips depending on the market, with the U.S. getting the next Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, while European versions may use Samsung’s Exynos chips. The much-talked-about Exynos 2200 could be onboard this device, bringing AMD’s RDNA 2 GPU architecture to a mobile device for the first time. If you’re a mobile gamer, this could be big reason to be excited.
Refreshing
The different S22 models will likely vary in display sizes, with leaks reporting the phones will feature an FHD AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Digit.in claims the S22 will have a 6.8-inch curved display. Leaks mention that the battery on the S22 models will likely be smaller, but the should support 45W fast charging.
The S22 might be the first Samsung phones to launch with Android 12 out of the box. Naturally, it’ll probably run the latest One UI 4 on top of Android. A recent preview gave us a glimpse into the new Android 12 skin.

The phone is likely to come out in January, rumors suggest.
Flagship prices
With the latest SoC, three cameras, fast charging, and a bevy of other features, this Samsung phone won’t come cheap. Exact prices are still to come, but the base S21 starts at $850, while the Ultra model costs $1,249. An S22 model with a built-in S Pen could cost more. We’ll have to wait and see.
