After two years, Fossil is looking to return to Google Wear OS smartwatches in a big way. Here’s everything we know about the Fossil Gen 6.
Right before Samsung officially unveiled its latest Galaxy Watch 4, Fossil stole some of the tech titan’s thunder by teasing its upcoming Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch the day before. Fossil made one bold claim...
To surpass the Gen 5’s performance, Fossil’s reportedly equipping the Gen 6 with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chip. According to Qualcomm, the chip “is designed to deliver 85% higher performance compared to the Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform.”
1.28"
The 42mm and 44mm reportedly have the same size OLED display (416x416).
Fossil smartwatches have always had a fashion focus, but they still track fitness at the end of the day. The Fossil Gen 6 will reportedly have a SpO2 sensor to measure oxygen levels — a feature that should bring peace of mind during these pandemic times.
WinFuture’s leak mentions Google’s Wear OS running on the smartwatch, but it won’t be the new Wear OS 3, which is co-developed with Samsung and brings tons of new features to the Android wearable platform. Fossil smartwatches won’t get Wear OS 3 until next year.
€299
Starting price for Germany according to the leak.
You don’t have to be a paleontologist to find out the latest on Fossil’s Gen 6 smartwatch, which should be announced pretty soon based on the leaks and teaser. The leak says September 27, though that could change.
