Thibaut Crepelle created a modern motion design video for the first large-scale product Apple designed back in 1984.
The Macintosh 128k was the original personal computer. Thibaut Crepelle has created a video promo to inject a modern twist on the vintage product.
“I start every single personal project with a music idea: I have a bunch of playlists in reserve that fits some kinds of motion/era/styles. And then, I find the perfect product for that music...”
The promo features a synth-pop record by the likes of Juan Laya and Jorge Montiel. If you want to hear what the accompanying track was, you can listen to it here.
“For this piece, since everything is a learning experiment, I wanted to tackle a bit of UI and ‘animated modeling’...When looking back at it [Macintosh 128k], it is strikingly obvious how it was the founding stone of the whole Apple philosophy: design and user experience over everything.”
The original video promo for the Macintosh 128k was directed by Ridley Scott for the lofty pricetag of $370,000 and aired during Super Bowl 18, on January 22, 1984.
