Apple's 2022 iPhone SE adds 5G, same chip as iPhone 13

The new budget phone has 5G support, a new A15 chip, the same old design, and it's coming out March 18.

The iPhone SE, like many expected, looks a lot like an iPhone 8. While Apple didn’t totally overhaul the design, it did meaningfully update the specs of the iPhone SE for 2022.

5G

The new SE has support for sub 6 GHz and mmWave 5G.

The SE now uses the same chip that showed up in the iPhone 13.

Here are the rest of the new SE’s specs:

  • 4.7-inch LCD Retina display
  • IP67 splash, water, and dust resistance
  • 12MP rear camera, 7MP selfie camera
  • Touch ID home button

Apple’s updates don’t come without a cost. The company is bumping the SE’s already high $399 price to $429. Not a budget phone price, but I guess 5G modems aren’t cheap.
