Apple announced a completely redesigned version of the MacBook Air at WWDC 2022 — a reimagining of what remains one of the company’s most popular laptops.

Almost everything is different in one way or another, but here are the changes that stand out most.

Finally, the M2 chip

With M2, the MacBook Air has faster performance and efficiency cores and up to a 10-core GPU with 25 percent higher graphics performance than the M1.

Say goodbye to the great starting price

Apple is keeping the M1 MacBook Air around at $999, but if you want the newest designs or chips, you’re going to have to pay more now.

Blue! Sort of!

Contrary to early reports, the new MacBook Air only comes in one new color: “Midnight.” That brings your options to starlight (gold), silver, space grey, and midnight.

MagSafe is back... again

Though other than that, the port selectional remains very limited; no SD card readers to be found here.

New case

The new Air is squared off like the new MacBook Pros (but far thinner), with two USB-C Thunderbolt ports, and a headphone jack. There’s also a notch.
