People are losing it over Super Smash Bros. final DLC character

Super Smash Bros. will end its DLC fighter pass with a little help from Disney.

After more than three years, the last Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character has finally joined the battle, and to put it lightly, fans are, um... absolutely losing it.

Sora from Square Enix’s equally popular Kingdom Hearts series will be Smash Bros.’ last DLC addition, which would be major news even if fans hadn’t been waiting years for Smash Bros. creator, Masahiro Sakurai, to finally merge the franchises.

Actual tears were shed.

In a lot of ways, Sora makes perfect sense as a Smash Bros. inductee. Kingdom Hearts is itself a game built around crossovers from popular Disney IP and as Sakurai alluded to in Nintendo’s announcement, is canonically linked to other Smash Bros. / Square Enix characters like Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.

The reception of Sora was obviously positive, which is fortunate for fans, because this will be the last DLC Super Smash character to grace the game according to Sakurai. Kingdom Hearts fans are happy, Super Smash Bros. fans are happy, and like many hard-fought Smash battles, Utlimate’s DLCs have concluded with lots, and lots of tears.
