Android widgets are getting a refresh in Android 12. It’s about time, too, because it’s been years since Google’s put any effort into modernizing them.
From leaker Jon Prosser comes another major Android leak. Last time it was the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro and now we’ve got what he claims is a major facelift for Android 12.
The most prominent update appears to be refreshed widgets.
They look more modern and consistent. Rounder corners. More negative space for tapping and swiping. They look great.
Such round
Much touch
The’s something neumorphic to this weather widget. The border gradient gives this flat widget depth — it begs to be tapped.
There’s also what appears to be an updated way to interact with notifications via a pill-shaped button in the upper left.
Google’s annual developer conference kicks off on 5/18 so there’s a high chance we’ll learn more about Android 12 and these new widgets then.
