Here's a first look at Polestar's new electric SUV

The Polestar 3 is among several forthcoming EVs slated to arrive over the next three years.

Volvo offshoot, Polestar, revealed an ambitious vision for the future of its electric vehicle lineup, including two new SUVs and one sedan.

The Polestar 3

Among the future additions is Polestar’s forthcoming SUV, the Polestar 3, which the company teased at a showroom in New York this week. The SUV will be the first out of the gate with a proposed 2022 release date. A second SUV, the Polestar 4 will arrive in 2023.

The Polestar 5

On the more conceptual end, Polestar also revealed the Polestar 5 sedan which will come with carriage doors and LiDAR sensors from Luminar. It’ll be a little while before the Polestar 5 hits the road, with the company eyeing a 2024 release date.

Given Polestar’s relative nascence on the EV scene, it’s impressive to see such a robust lineup of future vehicles. Sales projections from the company are equally as ambitious, with Polestar aiming to sell 290,000 units by 2025.

While Polestar has a lot on its plate between trying to unseat Tesla for long range superiority and bolstering sales to 10 times its current numbers, the company has shown some initial promise having already released a pair of electric sedans, the Polestar 1 and 2.

There’s a chance that there may be a Tesla rival in Polestar after all.
