'Avengers: Endgame' New Footage: Extended Cut Rerelease to Add Post-Credits

The new stuff will be in the post-credits, not the actual movie.

Avengers, assemble back to the theaters. Approximately one week before Spider-Man: Far From Home swings onto screens, Marvel Studios will rerelease Avengers: Endgame with brand new material, including new stuff “and a few surprises” for the post-credits.

On Tuesday, reports from the Spider-Man: Far From Home junket in London emerged with quotes from Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, that revealed a rerelease of Avengers: Endgame in theaters. While the version will not be an “extended cut” or a “director’s cut,” there will be a deleted scene, a “tribute,” and extras yet to be revealed after the credits role.

Unfortunately, that surprise will probably, definitely not change the fact that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark still dies at the end.

Feige told both ScreenRant and ComicBook.com all about the new material.

“Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie,” Feige told ScreenRant. “If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises.”

He then told ComicBook.com, “Yeah, we’re doing it next weekend.”

Fans will get to see this glorious moment one more time in theaters when 'Avengers: Endgame' returns with new material.

Marvel

The release is no doubt an effort on the part of Marvel to finally dethrone the 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar, which has maintained a $2.7 billion box office record since its release ten years ago.

Avengers: Endgame broke plenty of records when it hit theaters back in April, including being the fastest movie ever to reach the $2 billion milestone. But the film still hasn’t grossed more than James Cameron’s production. That may finally change with the rerelease.

From the fans’ perspective, they will flock to the rerelease in the hopes to preview “Phase 4,” the still unknown slate of new Marvel movies that will begin a new era for the continuing saga. Reported films in Phase 4 include sequels for Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel, as well as debut features Shang-Chi and The Eternals. A Black Widow solo movie starring Scarlett Johansson will also be a “Phase 4” film, with production currently underway in Europe.

While Marvel may not preview any of the new films in the Avengers: Endgame rerelease (Comic-Con International in San Diego, which will take place during the weekend of July 18, is expected to be where Marvel makes its big reveal), that won’t stop anyone hoping to see even just a glimpse of the future.

Also, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is packed with characters people just love to spend time with. A rerelease of Endgame is just another opportunity to see everyone’s favorite heroes all over again. Of course, you must understand, seeing the movie again won’t prevent Tony Stark from dying. Sorry.

Avengers: Endgame will be rereleased in theaters on June 28.
