'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse' Post-Credits Has an Oscar Isaac Cameo

It's one of the movie's funniest scenes.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse features an all-star cast, including Nicolas Cage, Hailee Steinfeld, John Mulaney, Jake Johnson, and more. But there’s one famous actor who Sony purposefully left off movie’s IMDb page: Oscar Isaac.

The Golden Globe-winning actor makes a brief appearance in the animated film’s post-credits sequence. You can hear Isaac’s unmistakeable voice during the scene, Inverse confirmed during an early press screening of Into the Spider-Verse.

Of course, this is an animated film so you won’t actually see Isaac’s face onscreen. You might not even recognize his voice since his character only appears for a brief moment in the post-credits scene, but it’s definitely him. We’d recognize that voice anywhere. We also reached out to Sony for confirmation, but the studio declined to comment. However, a source close to the production tells Inverse it’s Isaac’s voice.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead for the Into the Spider-Verse post-credits scene. Stop reading now if you don’t want to know who Oscar Isaac plays or what happens after the end of the movie. If you already saw the movie or don’t care about spoilers, proceed.

Ok, here’s the big spoiler….

Oscar Isaac plays Spider-Man 2099! If you’re unfamiliar with the character, this version of Spider-Man was created in 1992 and goes by the name Miguel O’Hara. He’s a geneticist living in New York in the year (you guessed it) 2099. He’s also the first Latino Spider-Man, prompting fans to cast Oscar Isaac in the role over a year ago. More recently, Spider-Man 2099 appeared as an unlockable skin in the new Spider-Man video game for PS4.

In the post-credits scene, set in “Nueva York” (New York), Miguel O’Hara is given a web-slinging gadget that allows him to travel through the multiverse. Aware of the events of Into the Spider-Verse, Miguel opts to travel through the multiverse to round up more spiders.

First stop: “Earth-67,” which is literally the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon that aired for three seasons on CBS. It’s also the cartoon that’s gifted the internet countless memes, which the film can’t resist paying homage to.

As Miguel swings into Earth-67, he encounters that universe’s Peter Parker. There, the two Spideys recreate the greatest meme birthed from the show.

Imagine this, but with Spider-Man 2099.

The entire thing gets played for a hilarious gag that will have theaters crying with laughter. At the same time, it also helps expand the Spider-Verse in some exciting new directions as Sony gears up for a rumored sequel and various spinoffs.
