'Fortnite' Bugs Might Disable Another Weapon — Here's How to Avoid It
Only weeks after the Guided Missile returned.
Epic Games removed the Guided Missile back in April because it was considered overpowered. Then at the end of July, the weapon made a triumphant return for Fortnite: Battle Royale although now it’s more of a scouting tool. Since its return, some players experienced a nasty bug, which could mean the weapon will be removed once again.
A Reddit user posted a video on the Fortnite: Battle Royale subreddit about a bug with the Guided Missile. In the clip, the player fired the Guided Missile at an opponent, but in a scene that could be found in a cartoon, the missile turns around to damage the player who fired it. Others players on the thread confirmed they experience the same bug.
Another Reddit poster explained what is happening. When someone fires the Guided Missile, the missile automatically faces north. At the 14-second mark in the video, the player faces south, but then the missile and the player turn north resulting in the explosive pointed right in the back of their head causing damage.
The reason for this quick about-face is likely due to the unique control scheme for the Guided Missile. Unlike other weapons, players can control the missile after it’s fired, which can help destroy structures while hiding safely behind cover. For whatever reason, Epic programmed the weapon to always face one direction rather than the direction the player is already facing resulting in the bug. Players who want to use the weapon should keep in mind to point themselves north or else risk taking damage.
Epic has yet to respond to this issue with the Guided Missile. If the problem with the weapon is more extensive, there is a good possibility the developer will remove it from the game altogether.
The Guided Missile isn’t the only bugged weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Players continue to have a problem with traps in the game, but Epic confirmed there is an issue and it will be fixed in the next update.
