IMDb Leak May Reveal a Shocking New 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' Character

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate leaks can come from all sort of places, from the sketchy depths of 4Chan to somewhat less sketchy Reddit threads, but the latest revelation comes from a pretty unexpected source. The official IMDb listing for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate hints at a rumored new character who we really didn’t think would be joining the roster: the Chorus Kids.

If you haven’t been following along with the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate rumor mill you may be a little confused. The Chorus Kids aren’t exactly a household name, though they have appeared in the Smash series at least once before, turning up as a trophy in the previous generation of the fighting game franchise. According to IMDb (via NintendoLife), however, the Chorus Men (as they’re called in Japan) will get actual voice lines in Smash Bros. Ultimate, suggesting they could be playable characters this time around.

If that’s the case then the Chorus Kids could introduce some interesting new gameplay elements to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. For one thing, there are three of them, which could translate to something similar to playing as two Ice Climbers at once, but with one extra fighter to control. The Chorus Kids also hail from Rhythm Heaven, a rhythm based video game. So pulling off special moves might require more skill then your typical button mashing.

Before we get too excited about the possibility of the Chorus Kids joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster, it’s worth noting that just because they appear on IMDb doesn’t mean they’ll show up in the game as playable new characters. After all, the same IMDb page also lists voice actors for Togedemaru (a Gen 7 Pokémon that’s already confirmed as a new Poké Ball assist), along with a few other video game characters that we already know will appear as other Poké Balls or Assist Trophies.

It’s possible the Chorus Kids could just be another Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but if that’s the case then why hasn’t Nintendo already announced the relatively minor addition? The fact that the Chorus Kids are still just a rumor suggests they really might be a totally new character — or just a meaningless IMDb mess up.
