We all know there’s only one way Supreme Leader Snoke could appear in Star Wars: Episode IX. Obviously, it will be revealed that he wasn’t really in that throne room and that Rey and Kylo Ren only thought he got sawed in half, because Snoke is really good at astral projecting his dead body. But seriously, Andy Sekris is talking about Snoke appearing in Star Wars: Episode IX. But how would that work?

Spoilers for The Last Jedi ahead, but you probably knew that.

To be clear, Serkis has not said he will appear in Episode IX, only that he could. On Wednesday, Slashfilm revealed that Serkis told them “Look, it’s Star Wars, so you never know how life, or whether life can be come back to or not. Whether you can be resuscitated or brought back…what I’m saying is who knows?”

If Snoke were to appear in a Star Wars film that takes place after his dramatic death in The Last Jedi, it seems like there are only two ways it would happen: he’s a ghost or his scenes happen in flashback. Considering that there are several other people Episode IX could bring back as ghosts (like Luke and Obi-Wan) it seems unlikely Abrams would choose to bring Snoke back as a ghost, too. But, because The Last Jedi set a precedent for a ton of flashbacks in a Star Wars movie, it’s not crazy to think Snoke couldn’t appear that way.

Adam driver as Kylo Ren.

In fact, we still don’t know much about the Knights of Ren or how they connect to Kylo Ren and Snoke. This detail alone seems like a good enough reason to suspect that yes, Snoke could mysteriously appear in a Star Wars movie, one last time.

And if it’s true, it means everyone will gear up for another round of Snoke theories, all of which will be destined to be proven tragically wrong.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set for release on December 20, 2019. Director J.J. Abrams has reportedly said the film will “unite all three trilogies.”

Most of Maniac takes place in dreams, but as the 10-episode mini-series comes to an end the two main characters, played by Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, return to the real world — or so we’re led to believe. For a show that borrows a lot from Christopher Nolan’s Inception, the ending isn’t quite as open-ended, but there’s still plenty of room for interpretation.
