Mark Hamill Praises Princess Leia Signs and Cosplayers at the Women's March

The 'Star Wars' actor honored Carrie Fisher's legacy over Twitter.

The Force is strong with the women of America. Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill, offered words of support for all the Princess Leia Organa cosplayers that showed up for the Women’s March.

On Sunday, amidst the weekend’s many Women’s Marches held around the United States, Mark Hamill took to Twitter to share some of his favorite pictures from the March, full of women dressed up as Princess Leia or bearing punny signage with her face on it.

“Carrie would be SO proud! Resist. Register. VOTE!” the actor’s tweet read, along with the fist emoji and #WomensMarch2018 and #MyReSIStanceSISters.

In one such video, a woman has a poster with the iconic black-and-white photo of Carrie Fisher as Leia with text that reads “we are the resistance.” Another poster featuring Leia, drawn in marker, has text that says, “A woman’s place is in the resistance.” Another woman’s sign says the same phrase, and she’s cosplaying as Princess Leia in her iconic white dress. Another Leia cosplayer’s sign read “dont Leia hand on my health care.”

The actress Carrie Fisher, who had portrayed Leia Organa since the first Star Wars movie from 1977, offered her final performance with the character in the recently released The Last Jedi. Fisher passed away in December 2016, but her character’s enduring legacy has long served as a symbol for what women can accomplish.

The annual Women’s March began last year after President Donald Trump’s inauguration partially as a protest to his presidency, but if 2018’s showing has been any indication, then the Women’s March has evolved into a yearly event that will long outlive Donal Trump’s presidency.

Leading up to The Last Jedi, every single Star Wars fan was curious about Rey’s parents. Now that particular secret is more or less out, some have suggested that Episode IX could retcon this or even depict Rey’s drunk parents in a flashback. But, as Kylo Ren said, Rey’s parents are “nobody.” So who cares? Particularly when there’s another very important character with mysterious parentage: Finn.

With the end of Game of Thrones almost upon us (Season 8 premieres on April 14), speculation over the final six episodes is at all time high. Will fans be happy with the ending? Will the wait have been worth it? The cast and crew haven’t revealed much, but a recent interview suggests that not everyone will be happy with the way Game of Thrones Season 8 finishes the series.

It’s been all but confirmed that Avengers: Endgame will feature some sort of time travel, but we still have no idea how exactly that will work. Now, however, a new fan theory may finally explain how the Avengers defeat Thanos and reveal why everyone seems so chill in the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer. In short: It’s all about time loops.

For many Kingdom Hearts fans, the release of Kingdom Hearts III represents the culminating moment for a journey that’s lasted almost two decades, smashing various Disney worlds and Final Fantasy elements together along the way. Plenty of gamers have grown up dreaming about the first main entry since KHII came out in 2005 — perhaps most of all, Haley Joel Osment, who’s voiced series protagonist Sora since the very beginning.

Ultimate onto the world, and as more professional players share their early tiers lists, it’s quickly become clear which characters are best and which kind of stink. Now, with three new Smash Bros. Ultimate tier lists from three of the top players around, it’s becoming clear that one character is far and away the top pick in competitive Smash.
