The dramatic reunion between Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor and his former companions in the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special — “Twice Upon a Time” — almost looked very different, especially when it came to Jenna Coleman’s surprise appearance as Clara Oswald.

As Radio Times noticed: In the most recent issue of Doctor Who Magazine, “Twice Upon a Time” director Rachel Talalay opened up about the difficulties of scheduling Jenna Coleman, the actress who plays Clara, to appear — Coleman also stars in ITV’s Victoria a the queen. “God knows she’s busy,” Talalay said, “This wasn’t like, ‘I don’t want to do it.’ This was like ‘I’m the star of a huge show, and you’re asking me to find time to come do this.’”

Due to persistent scheduling conflicts, they had to settle for a scene that presented Clara as some kind of angelic vision on a battlefield, one in which she doesn’t actually appear onscreen with The Doctor.

Clara appears as a glass avatar composed of her real memories.

“Peter had to play to a tennis ball,” Talalay explained, “and so did Jenna, on green screen later, in the [former] Top Gear office in the middle of London, with fire engines going by.” The final product was emotionally potent and thoroughly enjoyable: the 12th Doctor regained his memory of Clara after it was erased in the Season 9 finale.

Former Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat, who penned “Twice Upon a Time,” revealed that he had to rewrite this particular scene several times over due to scheduling conflicts with Coleman. In the final version, Capaldi’s Doctor interacts with Clara first and then says goodbye to glass avatars of Bill and Nardole before going into his TARDIS and regenerating into Jodie Whittaker’s 13th Doctor.

But in the original version Moffat wanted, Clara would have appeared onscreen alongside Bill, Nardole, and The Doctor for the following delightful exchange:

Doctor: “I’ll tell you something, though. You were always my favourite.

Clara: “Who was?”

Bill: “Which one?”

Nardole: “I know.”

The scene would have ended with The Doctor chuckling before stepping back into his TARDIS, never giving them an answer. He would have then, of course, gone on to regenerate.

Unfortunately, we’ll never get to see such a scene, but it’s interesting to think of what could’ve been.

The Fortnite Season 6 Hunting Party Challenge continues, and much like Week 2, this one’s all bout the new wolf character that’s stalking everyone else. Here’s how to solve the new loading screen puzzle and find that secret star.

Fortnite Season 6, Week 3 began Thursday morning at 9 a.m., and even though hardly anybody has had the time to blaze through all seven of the new challenges, the Hunting Party loading screen leaked days ago. Whenever a player completes all seven challenges in a given week, it unlocks a unique Hunting Party loading screen. In each, there’s a clue hinting at an in-game location where players can them claim a secret, usually either a Banner or Battle Star.

Get your running shoes on because Timed Trials have returned to Fortnite for this Season 6 Week 3 challenge.

Week 3 of Fortnite: Battle Royale’s Season 6 began at 9 a.m. on Thursday, and Timed Trials are included as a Premium Battle Pass Challenge. The specific locations have changed completely from the Timed Trials from Season 5, so, unfortunately, previous maps won’t be worth anything these days.

Most of Maniac takes place in dreams, but as the 10-episode mini-series comes to an end the two main characters, played by Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, return to the real world — or so we’re led to believe. For a show that borrows a lot from Christopher Nolan’s Inception, the ending isn’t quite as open-ended, but there’s still plenty of room for interpretation.

After ending Season 1 on a huge cliffhanger, The Dragon Prince Season 2 is finally confirmed. The news was announced during New York Comic Con 2018 with a 2019 release date for the cartoon’s second season. We don’t know much about the new episodes, but it seems to hint at a big magical showdown between Callum and Claudia.
